If you're replacing an old light fixture with a small chandelier or assembling floor/table lamp and you are handy, installing a chandelier can be a DIY project. Budget about 2 to 4 hours. However, you do need to hire an electrician if:

• The wiring in your home is old and requires updating.
• The chandelier is too heavy or large to handle safely.
